PTK PC Series Pan Type Tablet Coaters



The PTK PC Series Drum-Type Tablet Coater

PTK's tablet coaters coat tablets by spraying a liquid coating solution onto tablets in a drying airstream while being agitated in a rotating pan. 

The coating pans of these machines are designed with focused airflow to provide more efficient drying, minimizing air usage. Less air usage means that energy costs are lower and smaller air handling unit is required.
The coater can be supplied with Binks® and Schlick® high-efficiency HPLV spray guns. The nozzles can be easily changed to accommodate aqueous, sugar, and film coating and are designed to prevent clogging and bearding.
The spray guns and compressed air lines are mounted on a swivel arm block allowing the gun assembly to be easily removed from the coating pan for maintenance and cleaning. 
The PC-C Series features removable drum technology allowing for for easy inspection and cleaning.
At the end of the coating cycle, the tablets are discharged by reversing the rotation of the drum.
The system is controlled by a touch screen HMI. PTK’s PIS-Con control software enables recipe storage/retrieval, data logging and retrieval reports and complies with 21 CFR Part 11 requirements. The coating process is totally automated and can be configured for optimal, repeatable results by using the recipe storage and retrieval functions of the control software. 
Designed to keep downtimes to a minimum, the PC-C Series coaters feature a WIP (Wash-in-Place) option. Mains water, detergent or purified water can be selectively sprayed according to the cleaning regimen. 
 
The optional inlet air handler is equipped with filters with a coil box heat exchanger designed for maximum efficiency. The air handler can be supplied with a HEPA filter.
The optional outlet air handler is equipped with an explosion-proof motor and a shaker to remove dust from the surface of the filters. 
The ductwork and other critical components are easily accessed for cleaning and maintenance. The ducts are constructed of stainless steel so they can be cleaned with water and detergent. 
A liquid holding tank can be supplied as an option. It is equipped with an agitator driven by a compressed air motor making it suitable for explosion-proof environments. A jacketed or double-jacketed tank can be provided to keep the coating fluid at a constant temperature. 
An optional auto damper is available to adjust the airflow according to the coating type.
