Caleva Multi Bowl Spheronizer (MBS)

The Caleva Model MBS is a Multiple Bowl Spheronizer (MBS) suited for use on a bench top / counter top, in a formulation laboratory environment.

 

The MBS spheronizer offers the convenience of being able to use any of four (4) different size bowls and discs (60 / 85 / 120/ 250 mm) on a common base platform; thus allowing for the spheronization of a wide range of extrudate batch sizes (10 grams - 1 kilogram) with a single spheronizer.

 

Spheronization is a batch process that accepts extrudate from either the Caleva MSE extruder or the Caleva Model 20 extruder. The availability of the four (4) different size bowls and discs assures the formulator of having the correct sized bowl and disc, to spheronize the 10 gram up to 1 kilogram extrudate batch.

 

The compact physical size of the Caleva MBS spheronizer also makes it relatively easy to locate and operate this spheronizer inside a flexible or rigid containment isolator, when the need to work with very potent compounds is required.

 

When the extrudate to be spheronized for the very first time, has been produced from very expensive, very scarce, very potent ingredients, then the use of the smallest diameter bowl and disc could be utilized on the MBS common base platform, so that proof–of–concept spheronization trials can initially be conducted. Then, simply by switching to a larger diameter bowl and disc, the formulator has the ability to spheronize larger extrudate samples.

 

The Caleva MBS Multiple Bowl Spheronizer is ideal for use in spheronization scale–up studies because it affords the formulation or R & D department scientist(s) significant flexibility when it comes to purchasing any or all of the four (4) interchangeable bowl and disc configurations; have readily available the size that you need, when you need it; then upgrade to any or all of the other size bowls and discs on a case by case basis.

 

The variety of optional accessories for use with the MBS spheronizer, also  includes the Caleva DataStor – 2 TM package to monitor, record and permanently store the operating parameters: product temperature, disc speed, and power consumption.
