PTK PM-C Series Interchangeable Bowl Lab Scale High Shear Mixer Granulator

PTK High Shear mixer granulators are designed for high-intensity batch mixing of pharmaceutical dry-powder blends and wet-granulated formulations. The PM1300 is ideally suited to applications where blend content uniformity, uniform moisture dispersion and strict particle size control are required.

The PM1300 utilizes advanced process sensors to monitor and control the mixing/granulating process. Ingredients can be hand and/or vacuum loaded into the mixing vessel. Primary mixing action is achieved by a three blade main impeller located at the bottom of the vessel which mixes the powder.  A secondary horizontal chopper impeller de-agglomerates the mass, helps ensure uniform moisture and particle size distribution and aids in dispersing the powder and binding agents. Dry lubricants, liquids and binding agents can be added during processing. Process end-point determination is provided by the automatic control system which also provides feed-back for process control. The finished product is discharged via a sanitary design valve located on the lower vessel wall. 

PTK High Shear mixer granulators are designed for high-intensity batch mixing of pharmaceutical dry-powder blends and wet-granulated formulations. The PM-C Vecxer small batch mixer is ideally suited for R&D applications where blend content uniformity, uniform moisture dispersion and strict particle size control are required.

The interchangeable mixing vessel feature gives the user the ability to select a mixing a vessel with a 1.2, 3 or 6.5 liter working capacity. Ingredients are hand loaded into the mixing vessel. The binder is gravity fed from a small stainless steel hopper located at the top of the mixing vessel. A sight glass and LED lamp in the lid allows the operator to view the mixing action. A bag filter is also mounted in the lid of the mixing vessel.  The finished product is discharged via a sanitary valve located on the lower vessel wall.

Primary mixing action is achieved by a three blade main impeller, located at the bottom of the vessel. The main impeller has minimal clearance to the vessel bottom and walls to prevent product sticking.  A secondary horizontal chopper impeller de-agglomerates the mass, helps ensure uniform moisture and particle size distribution and aids in dispersing the powder and binding agents. Dry lubricants, liquids and binding agents can be added during processing. The apparatus is easily disassembled for cleaning. 

The mixing vessel is mounted on a mobile cabinet with castors for mobility. The cabinet, made of brushed 304 stainless steel, houses the impellor drives, electronics, printer and HMI display. The granulator utilizes an advanced PLC based control system to monitor and control the mixing/granulating process. The system is monitored controlled by an HMI touch screen which displays the granulation process in a user-friendly graphical format. The mixing end-point is determined by the control system by monitoring the impeller torque.

  • Pis-Con PC-based control system with large color touch screen HMI with graphics, full process monitoring and control, end-point determination, data logging, recipe storage/ retrieval and meets 24 CFR Part 11 requirements. Integrally mounted in machine cabinet. 
  • Jacketed bowl for circulating a heating or cooling fluid. Does not include the apparatus for heating/cooling the fluid. (Which we can provide, if necessary.)

  • Binding Solution Spray System for automatically adding binder liquids or slurries into the mixing vessel. Spray gun is mounted to the lid of the processing bowl with a sanitary quick connect fitting. Includes 316 stainless steel mirror-finish tank for holding the binder liquid which is mounted on top of the mobile cart housing the pump assembly.
  • WIP System with spray nozzles located around the inside of the bowl. For repeatability, WIP can be programmed for automatic operation from the HMI if the PIS-Con enhanced control system upgrade is also purchased.
